Phillies' Zach Eflin posts a solid outing versus Cubs
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin went seven innings, allowing three runs and nine hits in a 13-inning 5-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
Eflin was in line for the win after Cameron Rupp blasted a solo shot in the top of the eighth, but setup man Joaquin Benoit promptly blew the save in the bottom half of the frame, giving the right-hander a no-decision. Despite the low strikeout numbers -- just one on Thursday -- Eflin has performed well, posting three consecutive quality starts.
In four starts, Eflin still does not have a decision to go along with his 2.42 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 26 innings pitched.
