Gio Gonzalez goes six-plus innings in Nationals win
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez tossed 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball in a 16-5 rout of the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.
Gonzalez gave up seven hits and three walks but managed to escape any big innings as he allowed just three extra-base hits. He also struck out five as he turned in his fifth quality start in five turns this year. Gonzalez is off to a hot start and moving close to sell-high territory.
Gonzalez owns a 3-0 record, 1.62 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 33 1/3 innings pitched this season but also has a 4.10 xFIP.
