Brett Gardner suffered bruised neck, jaw in Yankees' victory

New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner was pulled from Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays due to a bruised neck and jaw.

What It Means:

Gardner and Rickie Weeks were involved in a scary collision at first base that caused both players to leave in the sixth inning. It's anything of long-term concern, but Gardner will likely get a day or two off to recover. Ronald Torreyes came in as a pinch-runner for the Yankees on Wednesday.

Gardner is slashing .258/.343/.323 with a pair of doubles, six runs scored and five stolen bases across 35 plate appearances to start the season. That's paired with four walks and eight strikeouts.
