Reds expect Devin Mesoraco (hip) to join the active roster next week
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco (hip, shoulder) is expected to join the team's active roster sometime around April 17-20.
Mesoraco has been playing in Double-A while he recovers from severe shoulder and hip injuries. He recently caught a full nine innings and felt good afterward. Mesoraco's next step is to catch back-to-back games before being promoted to the big league club. The catcher has sat out most of the last two seasons after belting 25 home runs in 2014.
Mesoraco has accumulated only 106 plate appearances over the last two seasons while batting .158/.245/.200 with zero home runs and three RBI's.
