Yankees hold out Greg Bird on Saturday with right ankle injury

New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird was held out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Saturday due to a bruised right ankle.

What It Means:

Chris Carter is getting the start and he is batting cleanup for the Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles. Bird fouled a ball off his foot in spring training and with it still bothering him, the Yankees have decided to give him the day off. The Yankees hope to have him back by their home opener on Monday.

Our models project Bird for 21 homers, 53 RBI's and a .260 batting average over the rest of the season.
