Blue Jays' Roberto Osuna (neck) could be ready by Friday
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Roberto Osuna (neck) threw 35-40 pitches off of flat ground on Wednesday.
Osuna was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday after dealing with tightness in his neck over the final few weeks of spring training, but everything seems to be going well in his recovery. Pitching coach Pete Walker claims the 22-year-old right-hander could be ready for a bullpen session as early as Friday. The goal is for Osuna to be ready for closing duties by Toronto's home opener next Tuesday versus the Milwaukee Brewers.
Osuna is projected to record 34 saves this season while twirling a 3.26 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 28.4 strikeout percentage across 69 innings, according to numberFire's models.
