Andrew Benintendi drills three-run homer in Red Sox opener
Boston red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi launched a three-run homer off of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole in the Red Sox' victory Monday.
The Red Sox were struggling against Cole, going scoreless through the first four innings. However, they exploded for five runs in the fifth including Benintendi's three-run blast. The 22-year-old outfielder will be in a prime spot in the Red Sox offense this season if he continues to bat second behind Dustin Pedroia and ahead of Mookie Betts.
Our models project Benintendi for 18 home runs, 62 RBI's, 65 runs scored, and a .276 batting average in 537 plate appearances this season.
