Dansby Swanson batting second as Braves open versus Mets
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson will bat second in Monday's season opener against the New York Mets.
During his first stint in the majors last season, Swanson batted either seventh or eighth for 131 of his 145 plate appearances, with only five of those coming from the second spot. He performed well in those 38 games, slashing .302/.361/.442, so Braves manager Brian Snitker decided the 23-year-old Swanson is ready for the top of the lineup. He'll be sandwiched between Ender Inciarte and Freddie Freeman as the Mets send right-hander Noah Syndergaard to the mound.
numberFire's metrics believe Swanson will hit .260 across 539 plate appearances this season while sending off 10 rockets and driving in 55 scores with 11 stolen bases.
