Tribe signs catcher Roberto Perez to four-year deal
The Cleveland Indians signed catcher Roberto Perez to a four-year contract extension with club options for 2021 and 2022.
Perez will receive $9 million guaranteed and $21 Million overall if both options are picked up. The 28-year-old backstop is one of the better defensive catchers in the game earning the lucrative extension despite a career batting average of just .220.
NumberFire's algorithms project Perez for seven home runs, 25 runs scored, and 27 RBI's while batting .208 in 277 plate appearances in 2017.
