Blue Jays believe Devon Travis (knee) will be ready for Opening Day
Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis (knee) is likely going to be ready to play on Opening Day, manager John Gibbons indicated Monday.
"It’s starting to look that way, but nothing definite yet," Gibbons said. Travis was slow to recover from last November's knee surgery, keeping him out of Grapefruit League play until last Friday. He may see some additional days off throughout the beginning of the season, but it sounds like Travis will be in action when the Blue Jays open their 2017 season in Baltimore against the Orioles on April 3.
numberFire's models currently project Travis to hit .280 across 542 plate appearances this upcoming season while recording 16 home runs and 63 RBI's. He slashed .300/.332/.454 with 11 home runs and 50 RBI's across 432 plate appearances in 2016.
