Mets not out on Yoenis Cespedes sweepstakes

The New York Mets "are still strongly in the mix" for free agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News, via a team source.

What It Means:

"I know he's talked to some people. He's never said that he is coming back, but he's said he loved it here, he's happy here and we'll see," the source said. "He sounded like they were talking to a few teams, not too many." The Mets are reportedly one of four teams in the running on Cespedes, who could be looking for more than $100 million as the top option in a weak class. His representatives are hoping to finalize a deal by the time Winter Meetings wrap up next month.

In his age-30 season, Cespedes slashed .280/.354/.530 with a career-high .884 OPS. He added 31 home runs and 86 RBI's in 543 plate appearances.
