Cubs have yet to make a decision on Kyle Schwarber's (knee) availability
Chicago Cubs outfielder/catcher Kyle Schwarber (knee) won't know whether or not he makes the World Series roster until after meeting the team in Cleveland, manager Joe Maddon said on Monday.
The "reports are good" on Schwarber, according to Maddon. He will fly to Cleveland after serving as the designated hitter in an AFL game on Monday night. The 23-year-old seems probable to be on the Cubs' World Series roster, likely serving as the designated hitter for the games in Cleveland and as a pinch-hitter for the contests at Wrigley. Schwarber was limited to just five plate appearances in 2016 and hasn't been active for the postseason run.
numberFire's models give the Cubs a 63.4 percent chance of defeating the Indians in the World Series.
