Jose Lobaton belts three-run homer in Game 2 to lead Nationals

Washington Nationals catcher Jose Lobaton hit a three-run homer off of Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Rich Hill in the fourth inning on Sunday, powering the Nationals to a 5-2 victory over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLDS.

What It Means:

Pedro Severino started Game 1 behind the plate and performed well, so some people were questioning Dusty Baker for putting in Lobaton, who has not hit lefties well in his career. However, all that went out the window when Lobaton belted a go-ahead homer on a hanging breaking ball with two outs in the fourth inning.

In just 114 plate appearances in 2016, Lobaton slashed .232/.319/.374 with a .301 wOBA. He added three homers with a .141 isolated power.
