Masahiro Tanaka

Yankees will skip Masahiro Tanaka's last start

The New York Yankees announced Friday that they'll skip starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka's final start of the season on Saturday.

What It Means:

With Tanaka's injury history and nothing left to play for, the Yankees will skip Tanaka's final start of the season. The right-hander has had a fantastic season, but Luis Severino will start on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles in his place.

Tanaka will finish the season with a 3.07 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 199 2/3 innings. Even with a solid xFIP of 3.62 and SIERA of 3.79, they are both career-worst marks.
