Starlin Castro

Starlin Castro might return to Yankees' lineup this weekend

New York Yankees second baseman Starlin Castro (hamstring) could return to New York's lineup as soon as this weekend.

What It Means:

Castro was initially ruled out for the rest of the season, but according to manager, Joe Girardi, he has progressed well lately and could return to the lineup when the Yankees head to Toronto. He has been running on a treadmill and he hopes to resume hitting soon. However, it is still up in the air whether he will return, especially with the Yankees almost eliminated from playoff contention.

Castro is having a solid first season in New York, slashing .273/.304/.439 with a .316 wOBA over 593 plate appearances. He has a career-best 21 homers, but his strikeout rate has gone up to a career-worst mark of 19.6 percent this season.
