Rays' Logan Morrison to undergo left wrist surgery

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Logan Morrison's tendon sheath tear in his left wrist is "minimal," according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, but it will still require surgery.

What It Means:

Morrison should be able to resume swinging a bat in 12 weeks. This is good news, because Passan reported that a more severe tear could have resulted in a potential six-month absence. The timing doesn't bode well for Morrison, who will be entering free agency with a surgically-repaired wrist.

Morrison finishes with a .238/.319/.414 slash and .317 wOBA in his first (and potentially last) season with the Rays. He has 14 home runs and 43 RBI's in 398 appearances on the year.
