Clayton Richard superb across seven shutout innings for San Diego
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Clayton Richard twirled a gem in Thursday's 14-1 destruction of the Colorado Rockies, firing seven shutout innings.
Richard fanned eight and walked two while scattering six hits in the outing. He's surrendered just three runs in his last 25 frames. Next up is a road matchup with the San Francisco Giants.
The 32-year-old southpaw owns a career-best 2.78 ERA across 45 1/3 innings of work this season for both the Padres and Chicago Cubs. He has also recorded a 1.59 WHIP and 16.3 strikeout percentage on the year.
