Mets' Neil Walker confirms he will undergo back surgery
Neil Walker confirmed Thursday that he will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back.
What It Means:
Walker has been out of the lineup since Saturday, and while he was originally hoping to play through the injury, the surgery will instead end his season.
Walker has put up some solid numbers this year, slashing .282/.347/.476 through 458 plate appearances, with a .350 wOBA and .194 ISO that are both well above his career averages.
