Fernando Salas heading to Mets in deal with Angels
The New York Mets acquired right-handed pitcher Fernando Salas from the Los Angeles Angels for righty Erik Manoah.
Salas has underwhelmed for the Angels this season, but had been working as their closer for the last few weeks due to injuries to Huston Street (knee) and Cam Bedrosian (armpit). The 31-year-old will slide into a setup role with the Mets.
Salas has recorded a 4.47 ERA and 19.5 strikeout percentage across 56 1/3 innings this season. Through 62 frames for Low-A Brooklyn, the 20-year-old Manoah owns a 5.37 ERA.
