Matt Wisler holds Arizona to two hits in eight innings, Braves win
Atlanta Braves pitcher Matt Wisler dealt eight innings of one-run ball on Thursday, only allowing two hits as the Braves topped the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1.
Wisler had been in the midst of a terrible run, having allowed five-plus earned runs in each of his last four starts, so the win is a nice bounce-back performance for him.
It has been a rough season in general for the 23-year-old Wisler, and while he has shown some improvement from his rookie year, improving his strikeout rate to 17.2 percent and his walk rate to 7.0 percent, he still owns an ugly 4.92 ERA and 4.71 SIERA.
