Athletics' Kendall Graveman throws complete game shutout
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Kendall Graveman spun a two-hit shutout in a 9-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
Friday marked only the third complete game of Graveman's career and his first complete game shutout. He struck out five batters and didn't walk anyone during his nine innings on the hill, which makes it even more impressive that he only gave up two hits. His next start will be on Wednesday against the Cleveland Indians.
Graveman owns a 4.09 ERA and 1.31 WHIP across 143 innings pitched this season. After a rough first three months of the season, Graveman has been outstanding lately with a 3.14 ERA over his last nine starts. With Friday's performance, he now has a career-low 14.05 strikeout percentage and 2.22 nERD.
