New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Los Angeles Angels.
What It Means:
He will be on the sidelines as the Yankees square off against Angels right-hander Jered Weaver. The 32-year-old's playing time has been victim to the youth movement taking place in New York, and a right ankle injury has also kept Gardner out of action in recent days.
Gardner is slashing .263/.351/.378 across 461 appearances at the plate this season, while his .322 wOBA and .115 ISO are both below his career-averages.
