Cubs' John Lackey (shoulder), Hector Rondon (triceps) headed to disabled list
The Chicago Cubs are expected to place pitchers John Lackey (shoulder) and Hector Rondon (triceps) on the disabled list, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat.
Lackey felt some shoulder tightness after his last start, and Rondon has been dealing with a triceps issue over the past few weeks. However, both additions to the disabled list are considered precautionary, since the Cubs have the luxury of being able to play things safe with a huge 13-game lead in the National League Central division.
Lackey owns a 3.74 xFIP and a career-best 24.88 strikeout percentage (league average is 20.98 percent) in 158 1/3 innings pitched this season. Rondon has posted a 2.79 xFIP and an impressive 31.10 strikeout percentage in 43 2/3 innings pitched.
