Blue Jays' Roberto Osuna records final four outs for save Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna tallied his 27th save of the season Wednesday in the Blue Jays' 7-4 defeat of the New York Yankees.
Osuna recorded the last four outs of the contest, beginning his outing by striking out Didi Gregorius in the bottom of the eighth, before then pitching a clean bottom of the ninth. The 21 year-old closer owns a 1.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a whopping 31.88 strikeout percentage in 53 2/3 innings this year, along with just two blown saves.
Osuna's 3.45 xFIP this year is almost double his ERA, but his 1.7 fWAR ranks eighth-best among relievers. We project him to record a 2.46 ERA, with a 0.93 WHIP and nine more saves over the remaining course of the season.
