Yoenis Cespedes (quad) headed to Mets' 15-day disabled list

New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes (quad) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, said manager Terry Collins.

What It Means:

Cespedes stated he felt discomfort in his quad during his last at-bat during Wednesday's loss to the New York Yankees, but he did manage to knock one out of the park in the outing. A stint on the disabled list is probably the best move for Cespedes, as the injury has lingered for a bit now and the Mets want him healthy for the stretch run. Brandon Nimmo will likely get called up to replace him.

Cespedes is having an impressive season, slashing .292/.364/.551 with 22 home runs and 59 RBI's in 376 plate appearances. We project him to hit .285/.356/.523 with seven taters and a .367 wOBA over the rest of the year.
