Phillies' Aaron Nola (elbow) may be sidelined rest of season
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola (elbow) could be shut down for the rest of the season, according to manager Pete Mackanin.
What It Means:
A right elbow sprain placed Nola on the 15-day disabled list earlier on Wednesday. Mackanin said the length of Nola's stint on the DL will determine whether or not he's able to return to the mound this season, but the possibility was not ruled out. Expect some clarity within a week or so.
Nola owns a 4.78 ERA for the season in 111 innings pitched, but his 3.06 xFIP -- which ranks fourth-best -- is significantly better. His 2.34 nERD currently ranks 37th in the bigs.
