Pirates' Andrew McCutchen out Wednesday, Thursday
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, and he will not play on Thursday either, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Biertempfel.
McCutchen has effectively been benched. He will miss the entire three-game series against the Braves, since he wasn't in Tuesday's lineup either. He is having his worst season in the big leagues by far this year, slashing just .241/.311/.408 in 431 plate appearances.
McCutchen owns a .308 wOBA this season, significantly below his career .382 wOBA entering this season, and his 24.83 strikeout percentage is also a career-worst. We project things to get slightly better over the rest of the year, forecasting a .250/.322/.420 slash with a .323 wOBA.
