Cam Bedrosian nets first save for Angels by fanning side

Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Cam Bedrosian struck out the side for his first career save Tuesday night against the Oakland Athletics.

What It Means:

It took Bedrosian a total of 17 pitches to close out the Angels' 5-4 victory, striking out Max Muncy, Coco Crisp and Jed Lowrie in the top of the ninth. Following the game, manager Mike Scioscia revealed that he originally intended to use a committee approach at closer with both Huston Street (knee) and Joe Smith (trade) unavailable, but the 24-year-old right-hander has displayed the potential to run away with the job.

Bedrosian owns a 0.90 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 32.48 strikeout percentage in 40 innings this season.
