Indians' Danny Salazar lands on disabled list with elbow inflammation

The Cleveland Indians placed pitcher Danny Salazar on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

What It Means:

Salazar was roughed up for six runs in two innings against the Minnesota Twins on Monday. He revealed after Monday's start that his elbow is still bugging him and now he's looking at an extended absence. More clarity on his status should be known soon, since he is expected to have an MRI on Tuesday. Salazar's move to the disabled list opens up a spot for Brandon Guyer, who Cleveland acquired Monday.

Salazar owns a 3.38 ERA, 3.70 xFIP and a 27.25 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.02 percent) in 117 1/3 innings this season. Our models currently project him to record a 3.75 ERA and a 23.60 strikeout percentage over the rest of the year.
