Matt Cain throws five shutout innings in Giants' win
San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain dealt five innings of shutout ball in a 3-1 win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
Cain faced 20 batters, and while he walked four, he went the full five innings without giving up a single hit.
Cain is having a rough year, with a 5.53 ERA and 4.89 SIERA, while he ranks 169th in the majors with a 1.19 nERD. We project him for an ugly 5.56 ERA, 14.11 percent strikeout rate and 1.56 WHIP over the remainder of the season.
