Cardinals pick up Zach Duke from White Sox
The St. Louis Cardinals acquired left-handed pitcher Zach Duke from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for outfielder Charlie Tilson.
Despite being a lefty, Duke isn't limited to a specialist role, twirling a 3.35 xFIP against left-handed hitters, as well as a 4.39 xFIP versus right-handers, throughout his career. He is under contract for 2017, as well.
The 33-year-old Duke has been stellar over the past three seasons, recording a 2.87 ERA across 157 innings of relief for both the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox. Over the rest of the year, our models project Duke to throw a 3.27 ERA with a 22.83 strikeout percentage in 22 more innings of work.
