Astros' Carlos Gomez (hamstring) hopes to play Sunday
Houston Astros outfielder Carlos Gomez (hamstring) hopes to return to the lineup on Sunday.
Gomez left Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees early after injuring his right hamstring. An MRI apparently revealed that he's dealing with just a minor strain. The Astros were off on Thursday and Gomez said Friday that he's feeling better and is hopeful to be able to play later this weekend. Jake Marisnick -- and his poor .250 wOBA this season -- will man center field on Friday against the Detroit Tigers.
Gomez has struggled to a line of .216/.280/.330 in 310 plate appearances this season, with 5 home runs, 12 stolen bases and a .267 wOBA. We project him to hit .234/.300/.351 with three taters, six steals and a .286 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
