Matt Moore likeliest Rays starter to be dealt
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore is "emerging as the likeliest trade candidate" from the Rays' rotation, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
In addition to Moore, the Rays are also fielding offers for Jake Odorizzi and Drew Smyly, as well as Chris Archer. There have also reportedly been discussions with the Baltimore Orioles about an Erasmo Ramirez trade. The Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Pirates appear to be among the more likely suitors.
Consistency isn't Moore's greatest asset, evidenced by a 5.31 ERA in April and May (57 2/3 innings), followed by a 3.11 ERA in June and July (72 1/3 innings). Our models currently project him to twirl a 4.15 ERA and 16.78 strikeout percentage across 71 2/3 frames over the remainder of the year. His 2.47 nERD currently ranks 26th in the bigs.
