Noah Syndergaard takes the loss, Mets fall to St. Louis
New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard allowed three runs -- two earned -- over six innings Tuesday as the Mets dropped the first half of a doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Syndergaard committed a throwing error in the top of the second inning, accounting for the one unearned run himself. He was hit seven times, while fanning eight and walking three. Next up is a home date with the Colorado Rockies.
The 23-year-old righty is now 9-5 with a 2.45 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30.44 strikeout percentage (fifth in the majors) across 117 1/3 innings of work this season.
