Tyler Clippard likely in line for initial saves for Diamondbacks
Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Tyler Clippard will "probably" be the team's primary closer, according to manager Chip Hale.
Hale voiced similar sentiments immediately after Brad Ziegler was traded to the Boston Red Sox, noting that Clippard has the edge in experience. In addition to that, Clippard's main competition for saves, Daniel Hudson, has struggled this season. In 33 innings pitched, he owns a 4.71 xFIP. Clippard is who you want to own in fantasy.
Clippard has recorded a 3.47 xFIP across 33 1/3 innings pitched this season, while sporting an impressive 30.83 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.00 percent). Our models project him to record a 3.60 ERA and a 24.60 strikeout percentage over the rest of the year.
