Josh Reddick absent from Athletics' lineup
Oakland Athletics right fielder Josh Reddick is not in the Athletics' starting lineup Thursday against the San Francisco Giants.
Jake Smolinski will replace him in right field and bat sixth in the series finale on Thursday. With southpaw Madison Bumgarner taking the mound for San Francisco, Reddick will take a seat and reflect on his 1-for-9 performance at the plate since returning from a fractured thumb.
Reddick was crushing it before his stint on the disabled list and currently ranks 108th in the big leagues with a 0.69 nERD. His .310 batting average and .383 on-base percentage both represent career-highs across 175 appearances at the plate this season. We currently project him to continue to regress slightly, expecting Reddick to hit .276/.343/.427 over the remainder of the year.
