Michael Brantley on Astros bench Game 3

Houston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley is not in the lineup for Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Tuesday against right-hander Sonny Gray and the Minnesota Twins.

What It Means:

Brantley will head to the bench after going 2-for-7 with a walk, a steal, and 2 strikeouts in the first two games of the series. Yainer Diaz will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth for Houston while Yordan Alvarez makes another start in left field.

numberFire’s models project Diaz ($3,000) for 10.2 and Alvarez ($4,400) for 12.6 FanDuel points on Tuesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Astros' 3.78 implied team total is the lowest on the board today. Gray tossed five scoreless innings in the Wild Card Series after registering a solid 3.49 xFIP, 24.5% strikeout rate, and 4.8% walk rate after the All-Star break.
