Yan Gomes idle for Cubs Friday afternoon
Chicago Cubs catcher Yan Gomes is not in the lineup for Friday afternoon's series opener against right-hander Noah Davis and the Colorado Rockies.
Gomes started the last three games and went 1-for-9 with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. He was also plunked by two pitches. Miguel Amaya will take over behind the plate Friday afternoon and hit ninth.
numberFire’s models project Amaya ($5,000) for 7.0 FanDuel points on the single-game slate Friday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Cubs have an inviting implied total (5.22) for the matinee at Wrigley. Davis has a 3.72 xERA behind his 9.58 ERA, so he may have suffered from some poor luck across his 20 2/3 innings this season. The 26-year-old righty also has a poor 17.6% strikeout rate.
