Astros call up A.J. Reed
The Houston Astros purchased the contract of first baseman A.J. Reed from Triple-A Fresno.
The 23 year-old former second round pick is expected to make his major league debut on Saturday as a designated hitter when the Astros take on the Kansas City Royals. Reed projects to have some power in the show, but he also might not play much against left-handers early on.
Reed was slashing .266/.345/.509 with 11 home runs through 59 games in Triple-A this season. However, he was also on an eight game hitting streak heading into being called up.
