Eddie Butler destroyed for 11 hits, six runs in Rockies' loss

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Eddie Butler was annihilated in Thursday's no-decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks, conceding six runs on 11 hits over five innings.

What It Means:

He should be very thankful that the Rockies offense rallied in the eighth inning to tie the game, because Butler absolutely deserved the loss in this one. The third inning was his undoing, as a pair of two-run blasts from Socrates Brito and Jake Lamb accounted for four of the six scores on Butler's line. He's allowed six scores in two of his last three outings, evidenced by his ERA jumping from 4.13 to 6.71 in that span. The 25-year-old right hander will square off against the Toronto Blue Jays in his next date on the mound.

Butler has a 1.53 WHIP and 15.25 strikeout percentage across 51 innings. He is 2-4 through eight starts and our models project him to record a 5.75 ERA over the remainder of the season.
