Derek Norris hits three-run homer in Padres' win

San Diego Padres catcher Derek Norris hit a three-run homer on Thursday that helped lead the Padres past the Cincinnati Reds 7-4.

What It Means:

The Padres were down 4-3 when Norris came to the plate and connected on his three-run jack. He has seen his power jump over the last few games as well. He has hit two homers in his last two games and three in his last five. While his power numbers are encouraging, Norris has not been getting on base with great frequency this season after posting an OBP of .300 or better the last three seasons.

Norris is slashing a pedestrian .215/.266/.402 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI's over 233 plate appearances. He has a wOBA of .289, and our models project him to post a .294 wOBA with nine homers and 33 RBI's remaining this season.
