Red Sox send Chris Young (hamstring) to 15-day disabled list
Boston Red Sox outfielder Chris Young was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
The Red Sox haven't announced a coinciding roster move and are beginning to run out of options in left field with both Brock Holt (concussion) and Blake Swihart (ankle) on the shelf. Rusney Castillo makes sense as a replacement for Young, but Boston removed him from the 40-man roster last week. The injury occurred Thursday, after Young pulled up lame on a second-inning single.
Young has been a fantastic producer for Boston. He owns a .361 wOBA with six jacks in 142 plate appearances this season. Per usual, he's crushing lefties, sporting a .437 wOBA versus southpaws.
