Blue Jays place Brandon Belt (back) on injured list

The Toronto Blue Jays placed designated hitter/first baseman Brandon Belt on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lumbar spine muscle spasms.

What It Means:

Belt was pulled from Monday's series opener with a back issue and he will miss at least a week and a half. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will take over at DH on Tuesday versus right-hander Max Scherzer and the Texas Rangers while Spencer Horwitz starts on first base and bats cleanup.

numberFire’s models project Horwitz ($2,600) for 5.6 and Vladdy ($3,500) for 11.5 FanDuel points on Tuesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Blue Jays' implied total is 4.18 and the game total is 8.5. Scherzer was lit up for 7 runs in just three innings against the Houston Astros in his last outing, but he has a 3.63 xFIP and 32.3% strikeout rate in seven outings since joining the Rangers.
