Mike Tauchman batting ninth Thursday for Cubs
Chicago Cubs outfielder will start in right field and bat ninth in Thursday's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
What It Means:
The Pirates are expected to use lefty Rob Zastryzny as an opener and right-hander Andre Jackson in bulk relief on Thursday, so the left-handed hitting Tauchman will work from the bottom of the lineup. He has mostly been in the leadoff spot this season and only hit ninth two other times. Nico Hoerner will handle leadoff duty again on Thursday.
