Pirates' Jeff Locke shuts down Giants over 6 2/3 innings

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jeff Locke shut out the San Francisco Giants over 6 2/3 innings as the Pirates held on for a 1-0 victory Monday.

What It Means:

Locke struck out three and walked none during his part of the Bucs' shutout of the Giants. Locke was pulled when his counterpart, Madison Bumgarner came to the plate in the seventh, but the lefty had a fantastic day, tossing a very economical 84 pitches. His next start will be against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

Locke owns a 5.44 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 82 2/3 innings this season. Our models project him to post a 4.45 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 105 innings remaining in 2016.
