Red Sox place Rusney Castillo on outright waivers
The Boston Red Sox have placed outfielder Rusney Castillo on outright waivers according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
What It Means:
Castillo signed a $72.5 million contract in 2014 and has not lived up to it. With tons of money left on his deal, he will likely clear waivers and no longer be on Boston's 40-man roster.
In 147 Triple-A at bats in 2016, Castillo had a .245/.304/.320 slash line with a .290 wOBA. He only had one homer and 13 RBI's in the minors this year.
