Mets' David Wright undergoing neck surgery, likely done for the year
New York Mets third baseman David Wright is scheduled to undergo surgery on the herniated disc in his neck on Thursday.
Wright has been trying to avoid surgery, but he released a statement saying: "After trying every way to get back on the field, I've come to realize it's best for me, my teammates and the organization to proceed with surgery at this time. My neck simply did not respond to any of the treatments of the past few weeks."
He had a strong start to the season, posting a .345 wOBA and .212 ISO, which was on pace to be his highest since 2010. He will likely be out for at least the rest of this season.
