White Sox looking to release Jimmy Rollins
The White Sox have requested waivers to release shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who was recently designated for assignment.
What It Means:
The White Sox designated Rollins for assignment to make room for Tim Anderson on Friday. As he has passed through waivers unclaimed, the team is now looking to grant him his unconditional release. While he has struggled to hit with any kind of consistency in 2016, he could fit in with a contending team looking for a bench veteran.
The veteran Rollins hit just .221/.295/.329 with two homers and eight RBI's across 149 at-bats prior to being cast aside.
