Tigers' Victor Martinez not in Monday's lineup
Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez is not in Monday's starting lineup against the Chicago White Sox.
Martinez appeared to tweak something on Sunday against the New York Yankees, so this might be more than just a day off. J.D. Martinez will act as the designated hitter against the White Sox, while Mike Aviles will get the start in right field.
Martinez is having an impressive start to the season, slashing .333/.381/.519 with nine home runs and a .382 wOBA in 236 plate appearances. His 2.32 nERD ranks 32nd best. Our models currently project Martinez to hit .271/.324/.422 with 10 home runs and a .323 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
