Andrelton Simmons (thumb) could rejoin Angels this weekend

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons (thumb) could rejoin the team this weekend, Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said.

What It Means:

Simmons will take part in additional rehab games with High-A Inland Empire on Thursday and Friday. Scioscia isn't committing to Simmons' return against the Cleveland Indians this weekend, but the 26-year-old shortstop is clearly just about back to 100 percent. A UCL tear in his left thumb sidelined him in early May, and he promptly shredded the initial six-to-eight-week timetable.

With an elite glove and suspect bat, Simmons will likely always be a better real-life player than fantasy asset. We project him to post a .266 wOBA with two jacks and two steals over the remainder of the campaign.
